Transforming Education and Housing: Early Learning and Affordable Housing Initiative

San Francisco, CA

Mission Neighborhood Centers (MNC) has been a cornerstone of community support, dedicated to alleviating poverty in urban areas through cultural initiatives and educational opportunities. To further its mission, MNC launched a capital campaign to develop new early learning centers and transform outdated facilities into state-of-the-art environments. These facilities aim to engage children, inspire discovery, and lay the groundwork for long-term academic success.

The newly constructed Early Childcare and Education Center features approximately 7,972 sq. ft. of dynamic indoor and outdoor spaces. The center provides enrollment for 20 preschoolers and 22 infants and toddlers, delivering high-quality early education to foster growth and development.

In addition to the childcare facility, the project includes the creation of 165 affordable housing units. These 100% affordable homes are designed to serve low- to moderate-income families, addressing the critical need for housing in the community. Together, the Early Childcare and Education Center and the housing development exemplify MNC’s holistic approach to breaking cycles of poverty by integrating education and stable housing solutions.
