Empowering Senior Living: Enhancing Scheuer House of Bayside for Selfhelp Community Services

Flushing, NY

Selfhelp Community Services impacts the lives of over 25,000 elderly, frail, and vulnerable New Yorkers annually and is the largest provider of services to Holocaust survivors in North America. Among their landmark achievements is the Helen R. Scheuer House, the first rental New York State Mitchell-Lama residence built by a not-for-profit organization. These properties—Helen R. Scheuer House (1964), Scheuer House of Bayside (1981), and Scheuer House of Flushing (1989)—serve as homes to more than 500 low- and moderate-income seniors.

SCCS Group is collaborating with Selfhelp at Scheuer House of Bayside, delivering expert pre-construction and construction advisory services. This effort is part of an ongoing commitment to ensure that these residences remain comfortable, safe, and accessible, upholding Selfhelp’s mission to provide quality housing and essential services for New York’s senior community.
