Apollo Hotel

Capital Repairs to Support Affordable Housing

San Francisco, CA

The Apollo Hotel, a key asset in San Francisco’s 16th Street/Valencia Street corridor, is a historic 80-unit Single Room Occupancy (SRO) hotel that has provided permanent supportive housing since its construction in 1908. As one of the oldest and largest hotels in the neighborhood, the building plays a crucial role in offering affordable housing for formerly homeless and very low-income adults, helping to preserve the cultural fabric of the surrounding community.

SCCS Group has supported Mission Housing Development Corporation (MHDC) in the Apollo Hotel's capital repairs and rehabilitation efforts. Our involvement has ensured the building can continue to serve as a 100% affordable housing community space for its residents. The first floor of the building includes a commercial space in the northeast corner, with common areas and offices occupying the rest of the floor. The building's roof features a penthouse and roof deck, which were added as part of a 1997 rehabilitation.

Through these capital improvements, SCCS Group has helped maintain the Apollo Hotel’s historic character while ensuring it continues to provide stable, affordable housing for the community's most vulnerable residents.
